are you ready for election day in November, part six –

This is the last in a series of articles about the upcoming election of borough councilors in Columbia.

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Columbia news, views & reviews posed five questions to all of the candidates for Columbia Borough councilor.

At this time, only two of the candidates – Barry Ford and Kelly Murphy – decided to share their views with the voting citizens in the borough. Their passion and concern for Columbia and their willingness to provide information is testimony of character and transparency.

Voters and citizens are represented at all local, state and some federal levels of government by the candidates who garner the most votes in elections. Logically, the more citizens know about the character and beliefs of the candidates, the more informed they will be when they cast their ballots for the councilors who will make better decisions for them in the coming years.

Why did other candidates not answer these questions? Before you vote you may want to ask them?

Perhaps, if voters do not know what their elected public servants are thinking, they will get the kind of government they want.

  1. Is anyone suprised? I think not. Why would you want to put your foot in your mouth when you know you are 99% sure you will be elected. They are sure that the public will vote name recognition and not really care what they stand for. Are they a member of the good old boy network? Who cares.

  2. To the tax payers of Columbia. It now appears Boro Council will sell the river front property for a fraction of its value. Why is it the property was not put out on bids? This would establish the fair market value of the river front property. For what it’s worth, similar property in York County sold for $1,000.00 a front foot. So you do the math. The concern is council doning the right thing for the tax payers of Columbia. Not the Good Ol Boy net work.
