Columbia Historic Market House Trust moves towards target

Last night, the seven-person board of the “soon-to-be” independent, not-for-profit management agency for Columbia’s Historic Market House met following the monthly Council Market House Committee meeting at the borough hall meeting room. The Trust Board is diligently moving along its path to assume operational control of the Market House on January 1, 2012.

Trust board president Dave Rupp convened the meeting immediately following the adjournment of the Committee meeting and the energetic board members methodically addressed agenda items for over three hours. Rick Sauder, president of the Friends of Central Market in Lancaster, addressed the group with background, mission, composition and structure of the Friends of the Central Market.

Councilor Kelly Murphy. chairperson of the borough Market House Committee, convened the first meeting at 6:00 pm; Mary Wickenheiser was the other councilor member present. In attendance, too, was Georgianna Schreck; Carmen Swinehart; several members of the Trust and one citizen.
