- Andy Rooney Dies – November 05, 2011 — NEW YORK (AP) — Andy Rooney so dreaded the day he had to end his signature “60 Minutes” commentaries about life’s large and small absurdities that he kept going until he was 92 years old. Even then, he said he wasn’t retiring. Writers never retire. But his life after the end of “A Few Minutes With Andy Rooney” was short: He died Friday night, according to CBS, only a month after delivering his 1,097th and final televised commentary.

- POLICE LOG: “MANOR TWP.: Police have charged Daniel Enchautegui, 19, and a 17-year-old male, both from Columbia, for several thefts from
vehicles earlier this year. Both men are charged with five counts of theft from a motor vehicle, one count of theft by unlawful taking and one count of criminal conspiracy. The juvenile was charged through the county’s juvenile probation office. Enchautegui was arraigned and committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era. - An article in today’s Intelligencer Journal/New Era deals with Senate Bill 2011, PA Senator Lloyd Smucker’s introduced bill to provide tax credits for the rehabilitation of historic structures. The bill “would apply only to commercial renovation projects and would be limited to structures within designated historic districts, and statewide the program would be capped at $10 million annually. Twenty-five percent of the renovation cost would be eligible per project, for a maximum of $500,000 per year.”
- A sample ballot (sample ballot) and a list of voting locations (list of voting places ) appears in today’s Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era. The sample ballot contains the countywide offices only; each municipality will have a separate local offices ballot as well.
- “A rally to promote accountability among U.S. financial institutions will be held outside Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Lancaster on Saturday. The rally, being organized by members of the American Dream Movement, is being held in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement. It will begin at 10 a.m. at Binns Park, 100 N. Queen St. The park is next to the bank. The American Dream Movement is inspired by protests in Wisconsin and fueled by what it describes as “right-wing attacks on the middle class and the poor.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era.
