“Scenes seen” on the way to market

We decided to take a few photos on the way to a pre-Christmas Market House shopping visit. Only after uploading the pictures to the pc, did we realized that we neglected to reset the camera’s setting from the last time we used it. Consequently, the pictures we took turned out fuzzy, not sharp or completely unusable. We apologize, in advance, to our readers for this flub.

So, here are some pictures we snapped on the way to Market House. Stopped for breakfast at the Prospect Diner. The Prospect Diner is incorporated into the home page of  LINCOLN HIGHWAY NEWS, a Website dedicated to the famous coast-to-coast highway that runs through Columbia. The walls of the Diner are lined with childrens’ crayon drawings. CC (known to some as Carolyn) says she gives the paper and crayons to all kids who come to the Diner; she assures them their “art” will be hung. Santa might be watching … after all.

Took these signs of  some “sights seen” along Locust Street on the way to the Market House; Columbia has a new styling salon with “stylin’ signage.”

Full view of “four.fifty.one.” from across the street.

Cute little place next door; the top of the building is particularly noteworthy.

Christmas door!

Opportunity knocks!

Bus stop reminder of the Reason for the Season!

Incomparable architectural gems abound in Columbia.

Deck the doors!

Majestic view looking towards the sky!

Somewhat less majestic on the ground floor.

Arrived at Market House early as some vendors were finishing their stand set-up. Kathleen, A Grateful Massage, took just a moment to smile for the camera. Market House is decked out in Christmas finery. Oh, yeah … Market House is open today! Time to visit to pick-up what you need for Christmas.

More decked doors with an unwanted yellow pages directory on the stoop.

More skyline splendor.

Call today!

Santa may want to avoid landing on this rooftop.

The POST Office!

Happened on a holiday “attired” Kodi walking his mistress, the honorable borough council president, Mary Wickenheiser, down Locust Street. Kodi is an ever happy guy; he’s not just trying to show off because Santa’s coming soon. He darted to see Bill and Cookie and his tail feathers were wagging joyously. (Sorry Bill and Cookie, that picture just did not turn out!)

All in all, the trip to Market House on a glorious “summer-like day” was another pleasant day to spend part of a morning in town.
