Quote for today… “If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” – Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms.

- OPINION: The other day, a reader asked us why we were “against the Republicans” because of recent posts and articles that have been critical about vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan. We replied that we neither were for or against any party, but that we do bristle against any elected “public servant” who says one thing and does another. Or any elected “public servant” who makes a ton of money after being elected. Here’s now another perspective from the Pew Research Center about vice presidential candidates: “Asked for their one-word impression of Joe Biden, more people use negative than positive words to describe the vice president. Many of the negative words disparage Biden’s competence and performance, with idiot, incompetent and clown among the terms used most frequently.”
