today’s news and information gleanings from here and there!

Quote for today“If you’re horrible to me, I’m going to write a song about it, and you won’t like it. That’s how I operate.” – Taylor Swift

  • LETTER TO THE EDITORS in today’s Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era – “Once again, I have read a letter that is completely without facts that was titled ‘Patrick Henry to Sandra Fluke.’ Fred Herr apparently doesn’t follow what is happening in Congress. Miss Fluke never testified before this body. She was denied that right by the radically right-wing chairman of that committee, Darrell Issa. As far as her being made famous, that was done by a grossly overpaid blowhard named Rush Limbaugh — “the pied Piper’’ of the Republican Party. Mr. Limbaugh, of all people, decided to attack Miss Fluke’s moral character by using vile names to describe a person he doesn’t even know .This guy is typical of many right-wingers who claim to be of high moral character, but will do or say anything if there is a dollar involved. I wish these Republicans would start using facts before they write some of their letters. Ronald E. Waugh, Columbia”
  • ANOTHER LETTER TO THE EDITORS in today’s Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era -“Since Columbia Schools have had problems in the past with bullying, why didn’t the administration and school board address the problem some time ago? According to school board president Tom Strickler, this is the third year the district has had a forum on bullying. So, what was the outcome? Why wasn’t a serious effort made to address this issue instead of waiting three years?” Robert G. Miller, Columbia
  • APOLOGY: Due to absolutely horrible “worse than third-world” Internet connectivity in this Hampton Inn in Western Pennsylvania, today’s “today’s news”is abbreviated. “Catch-up” will happen tomorrow .
