More questions people have

Should citizens be concerned about this recent “strong-armed robbery” in Columbia Borough reported by Cole Umber?

Why was it not included in any media notification? Police Log in Lancaster Newspapers?  Columbia police reports at a councilor’s blog?

Why is this violent crime in Columbia on the Lancaster City Bureau of Police Crime Stoppers Website?

Isn’t this failure to alert citizens similar in nature to a recent unreported burglary incident?

If, as the mayor has stated, Columbia’s calls to police rank third in the county, why are there so few listings in the police logs in the daily newspaper?

Why did Columbia have a special council meeting yesterday to re-vote on a decision they’d already voted on at the regularly scheduled Council meeting on October 8?

At the October 8, 2012 Borough Council meeting, an agenda item stated: “Consider awarding the Walnut Street CDBG project to the lowest qualified and responsible bidder, Doug Lamb Construction Inc. in the amount not to exceed $124,920.00, subject to review and approval by Borough Solicitor, Borough Engineer, and the Lancaster County Housing and Redevelopment Authority.”

This grant is identified at the Columbia Borough Website as a listing “$150,000 CDBG 2012 Community Development Block Grant( 0-100 Block Walnut St).”

Why would the Borough spend additional money for legal advertising to advertise the special meeting to re-vote on a decision on which the councilors had already voted?

  1. Joe Brown, agree with you about not expecting it to change soon, but what is the formula for change for the better in Columbia?
