This is just such a good memory trip … remembering a “Rocky Springs Saturday Night”

This is a re-post of a June 2012 article.

Maybe your friends have sent this to you via email; if not, perhaps you remember Rocky Springs Park. Click on the video below and go back to another time.

“Visit Bobbi Carmitchell’s website at: http://www.bobbicarmitchellmusic.com/ for CD sales, bookings, or to share your memories of Rocky Springs Park. From her album, “County Wide: Song Stories From Lancaster County”, comes the nostalgic “Rocky Springs Saturday Night”. Written as a gift to her mother, Charlotte, this warm, sentimental song was derived from her Mom’s fond memories of Lancaster, Pennsylvania’s historic amusement park, in its heyday. As a very gifted folk singer/songwriter, Bobbi managed to capture the very essence of what was once Rocky Springs Park, in just 5 and a half minutes. Creating the video and attempting to fit all of the images into that time frame was not only a daunting task, but, a labor of love, as well. Many of the images are being seen for the first time … especially the video footage of the now legendary Wildcat roller coaster, that I shot while walking the rickety frame back in September, 1986. This video is dedicated to Bobbi, Charlotte, my family and anyone who remembers this whimsical wonderland. For a detailed history of Rocky Springs, please visit: http://www.rockyspringspark.org/

  1. Rocky Springs Park, what good times we had there as kids. The roller coaster never felt very safe but we loved it. In those days it was much easier to go to Rockey Springs than it was to go to Hershey, and cheaper too. So much for the GOOD OLE days.
