GO PURPLE today

go purple

Millions wear purple on Spirit Day in a stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes ‘spirit’ on the rainbow flag.

  1. I’ve got a very serious problem with this “Purple Day” movement. The most precious gift with which we are blessed in our lives is our children. To allow them to be exposed to the twisted agenda of the homosexual & lesbian community without raising our voice in opposition is ludicrous. I don’t want this to be construed in any way that I am a “gay basher”; quite the contrary. I have very close friends that are involved in that lifestyle and I hold their friendship in high regards. The most important gift that mankind has ever had bestowed upon it is free agency; the right to choose. However, with every choice, there is a consequence. It is left to each of us to choose our way in life and for anybody to persecute us for that is wrong. My big problem with the tolerance exhibited in the “Purple Day” agenda is this. There are places in this nation where if students attend classes while wearing an N.R.A. T-shirt, they are made to go to the office, remove the shirt and are given a more “appropriate” covering to wear throughout the remainder of the day. The right to bear arms is a God-given right to defend one’s self and family. It was placed in the Bill of Rights by our Founding Fathers as a guarantee to resist the rise of tyranny in our Republic. Somehow, that right has become a blight to our present-day administration, whereas praising the gay lifestyle and persecution against Christianity itself, is now a rallying cry that is being voiced by supporters of those particular mindsets. I think it imperative that we see what we are allowing to occur in our country, for we are treading a very dangerous path that will eventually lead to our destruction. As is often said, “That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!”

    • I hear what you are saying Mike and share your sentiments on the priorities of the issues you mention. It is also unclear to me as to whether this day has lumped together bullying and LGBT youth. If that is the case I would strongly disagree as there are many reasons kids bully other kids. It should not be limited to or focusing on just LGBT. Kids are bullied for the color of their skin, their height, weight, religion, social and economic lifestyle and the list goes on.
