“What Richard Sherman Taught Us About America”

Ever heard the statement about there being three sides to truth?

Yours! Mine! The Truth!

So many folks have judged Seattle Seahawks all-pro defensive back Richard Sherman after his outburst during the post game interview on Sunday evening following the National Football Conference championship game.

Sometimes what we see is only one side of the truth as this Huffington Post article points out.

… and this from the British newspaper, The Guardian: “First and foremost, there wasn’t a curse word in sight. The messaging was clear, succinct, and direct. Let’s talk about what the true issue is. Richard Sherman and other NFL players are allowed to put their lives, bodies, and mental stability on the line every time they step on to the field. But the moment the helmet is removed, they are instantly supposed to be reminded of who they are, the skin they’re in, and the people who are watching. Shame on him and other athletes for allowing their decorum to delay for a few moments as they are reveling in a victory. Does authenticity not count for anything anymore?”

  1. Richard Sherman is just another example of athletics above all else.
His wording in his rants show the true character he is. Nothing wrong with showing emotion and enthusiasm after a victory but do it with some class. His interviews reveal a trait of self “centerism”, not for the team but for himself. Typical of him not to admit or realize his conduct was not becoming of a “professional” and putting the blame of his actions on others for not understanding him. The thug word he took an exception too, give me a break he is worse than a thug. He gives no thought about young folks who admire his football abilities and look up to him, what a poor example with his senseless outrages.
