today’s news and information gleanings from here and there!

Quote for today… “We aren’t told that the pension shortfalls in many locales were created because local governments did not make their required pension contributions over many years.” – Extract from David Sirota’s column about corruption in America’s broken political system. – Website

  • Clear message sent: it’s OK to steal. In this case, a “trusted” person gets only probation and no jail time. And she gets a “do over” chance to pay back the money she stole from her kid’s swim team. – Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era

  1. The excitement of seeing that a person will need to produce a valid, up-to-date Photo I.D. in order to vote in the upcoming November election was short-lived as I continued to read the rest of the article and found the following …

“NO ONE legally entitled to vote will be denied the right to do so. If you do not have a photo ID or are indigent and unable to obtain one without payment of a fee, you may cast a provisional ballot, and will have six days to provide your photo ID and/or an affirmation to your county elections office to have your ballot count. If you have a religious objection to being photographed you can still vote by presenting a valid without-photo driver’s license or a valid without-photo ID card issued by PennDOT.”

This nation is rank with corruption and to think that this paragraph guarantees the sanctity of the vote, is ludicrous.

There is no reason under heaven that a person of good standing in our communities cannot obtain a valid I.D. between now and November. The “provisional ballot” is a Trojan Horse that threatens the validity of our election process. It is nothing but an attempt to fend off the certain to come whining and crying of a particular political party who sanctimoniously declares that to require a valid photo I.D. is a scheme to eliminate the right of a poor citizen who didn’t care enough to go through the simple procedure of acquiring the said I.D. to cast their vote.

If this “party for the people” cares so much about seeing that every person has the right to vote, then why is it that in recent elections the military votes are discounted by the thousands under the guise of not getting into the system in time to be acceptable? The answer is clear. These men and women who have placed their very lives in the hands of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of these United States have sworn to ” … support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”, and unlike those in our governing bodies, will adhere to that oath because they understand that there is no statute of limitations concerning it.

May God come to our aid in attempting to save this nation from destruction because it is so deeply in the grasp of evil men that we have lost the ability to correct the situation ourselves.

  2. The 2012 notice at the Borough Website has been overturned by a Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court. This extract from an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette following the ruling states, “For now, however, the law is invalid after Judge Bernard McGinley of Commonwealth Court found that it ‘unreasonably burdens the right to vote’ and threatens a fundamental right of hundreds of thousands of qualified voters.”

We think it’s time for the borough to take down this “out-of-date” and inaccurate information.
