Rumored property sale and recorded property sale

It’s been rumored that the Hotel Locust has been sold. That cannot be verified at the County Recorder of Deeds database, but the property at 1506 Lancaster Avenue, the former Chinese Buffet site, has been bought and sold, according to the database listing.

  1. All I can say is that if it is to be a new Asian style restaurant, and if it is the same person who operates The Manor Buffet in Lancaster, located in the shopping mall with Burlington Coat Factory and Red Lobster, Columbia has just transcended to the highest level of Heaven. Keepin’ my fingers crossed!

    • Mike … Could be! The owners of the Manor Buffet (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Manor-Buffet/1480194135529350) are, according to this March, 2014 article, “Steven and Tiffany Guo, who own Manor Buffet, have had a number of restaurants during some 25 years in the industry.”

The new owner of the Columbia property is Guo Ting Hui.

If the food’s as good as you, and others say, hope the place is big enough and hope there’s enough parking?

  2. just a rumor but I heard John Crist & Mick Rupp are going to open a hot dog establishment, “Tides Dogs” in that location

Remember when Jerry’s Dog House was popular on south third, across from Joe’s Steak Shop in the early 1950’s

  3. wow – Hotel Locust sold to a development group ! Does anyone realize how big this news is ? Not only is that property the anchor to all of Downtown Columbia. it is a Lancaster County and PA State Landmark !! Best of all, Marilyn Monroe was there !

    • Haven’t seen that sale recorded with the County Recorder of Deeds yet. However, did see the sale of another property to Summit Street Properties, This “development group” continues to accumulate as it purchases 576 Walnut Street.

Rumors persist about the Hotel Locust sale. Have heard that someone guided one interested potential buyer away from the property. Maybe so that others might have a “track” to it?

Will be interesting to see which “development group” is the purported buyer. Will be interesting, too, so see the “connectivity” of the group.

  4. The Chinese Rest across from Grinnel was bought AND settled for (3) weeks ago by Kleen-Rite. Stop the speculation/rumors.
