today’s news and information gleanings from here and there!
Quote for today… “Great to have a downtown public meeting because people are really ready for a change ! It just seems like a small facility for the 500 people that are likely to come next Wednesday 🙂 Thanks Daisy !!” – Columbia Ghost, commenter to the reference about next Wednesday’s meeting, Columbia Renewal (6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at 200 Locust St., Columbia.).

- It’s just so strange, not unusual, just strange and hard to understand that the Columbia Economic Development Corporation is hosting this Columbia Renewal “public presentation” (according to the article in LNP – Always Lancaster) and there’s not a mention at its Website … or at the Borough’s Website, despite the inter-connectivity with Columbia Borough and the CEDC. There’s this as the borough extols the Turkey Hill Experience: “This would not have been possible without the forward thinking of Columbia Borough Officials and Administration who purchased the site and the Columbia Economic Development Corporation who has marketed the site and has taken the role of Project Coordinator.”
- But that’s OK – you’re invited this time – “The consultants will make a public presentation of their findings 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at 200 Locust St., Columbia.”
- We continue to wonder how the Columbia Master Plan (above) will play into the findings in the Economic Development Strategic Plan of a few years ago? How much does the ongoing “reinvention of the wheel” cost taxpayers?
- We wonder, too, why the CEDC neglects to share news releases with local digital media resources as Cole Umber’s ColumbiaPA17512, ColumbiaPAOnline or Columbia news, views & reviews?
- Why does the non-veteran Senator play so much publicity to veteran organizations? His newsletter is 100% veteran focused; could this focus be because of the upcoming election in which veteran Joe Sestak is campaigning?
Yesterday’s early morning walk with our dog captured these scenes; made us think of Ella Fitzgerald’s song with these lines: “And that’s why birds do it – Bees do it – Even educated fleas do it – Let’s do it, let’s fall in love” and “Sponges They say, ‘Do it’ – Oysters down in oyster bay do it – Let’s do it, let’s fall in love”
