“PA Heritage areas generate hundreds of millions in economic benefits, support thousands of jobs” – news releases, etc.

This news release purports that economic development is derived from programs as the Heritage areas.

Another government document, “Economic Impact of Local Parks, Recreation and Open Space in Pennsylvania,” states “documented recreation related spending in excess of $4 billion which supported 84,120 jobs and generated $770 million in taxes.”

Little wonder that Donald Trump is garnering so much support among those who think that government “just doesn’t get it” and that government does not have to be the leading employer.

While the federal and local governments appear to have reduced employment, state governments continue to add staff.

NOTE: The author of the economic development article is the executive director of one of the Heritage areas listed in the news release.

Maybe, just maybe, the way to demonstrate “economic impact” is to have someone write news releases at your disposal?
