updated_iconBreaking: Columbia bad boys charged in assault & robbery

Today’s news and information gleanings from here and there.

Today’s quote … “And please continue to read your community newspaper. Real journalism is needed today more than ever.” – A line from the editorial in today’s LNP – Always Lancaster.

Second quote for today … “I came away from it all knowing that I couldn’t, with any assurance, say I would have been any smarter.”  – A line describing the typical German’s response to the rise of the Nazi Party from this Atlantic Monthly article: Early Warnings: How American Journalists Reported the Rise of Hitler.”

Another quote for today … “Then they came for me. And there was no one left, To speak out for me.” – Reading recent letters-to-the-editor in newspapers rekindled thoughts of this poem.

  1. Reading the minutes of the various committee meetings and finding it a striking conflict of interest in community development as the boro is funding one of its own in Councilman Berntheizel who is the head of or still involved with the CDDC and its other arm Create Columbia.

  2. How can Mr. Lutz be president of the Columbia Economic Development Corporation and promote our town and move his business out of Columbia? Not a good message.

  3. This is the order of the day; just look at the incoming president. Change a few words in your comment and voila. Just like another President, Slick Willie. Role modeling as this is not the order of the day. Or is it?

  4. Cle is late for meetings, leaves when he wants and Kelly Murphy has no backbone to control the tardiness. Cle is in control of what he wants to do, not what the town needs to do. Stop voting for mediocre with personal intent.
Where are the tree grates? Where is the market revitalization that the Trust screwed up for 5 years? Why did he cut a back door deal with the Columbia Public Ground Co. so he could let Lancaster Magazine have alcohol in the Crossings building? When is the party at the Crossings? Where is the re-branding for Columbia? Where is the Bags and Flags the taxpayers flipped for $10,000 in the Spring?
Remember, in the Spring of 2017 primaries there will be 5 seats open on Council. Vote for the people who care, not the ones who care for themselves.
