[EDITOR’S NOTE: This is the last of the Constitutional Amendments at this date. We hope this daily posting of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the listing of each successive Amendment has been purposeful and of interest to you. According to an AP report, last night ” … President Barack Obama and congressional leaders announced a historic agreement Sunday night on emergency legislation to avert the nation’s first-ever financial default.” The theatrics and partisan grandstanding that our elected “public servants” demonstrated is shameful. We beseech all branches of the federal government to think back to the oaths they swore as they assumed the lofty roles they sought:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”]
The United States of America is not an aristocracy. It is not an oligarchy; nor a corporatocracy. This nation is a represented democracy; our nation deserves, and must have, your sworn selfless representation to the people, of the people and for the people.
LIMITING CHANGES TO CONGRESSIONAL PAY
No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.
This is a continuation of a series of posts devoted to exploring the enduring foundation of our nation. Click on the document below to go to a comprehensive Website to read the entire Constitution. Each day, we will post the successive Amendments to The Constitution, one each day.
