• POLICE LOG – “COLUMBIA: Christopher Tirado, 28, of Columbia, was charged after he chased a woman and grabbed her around the neck Friday at Fourth and Locust streets, police said. MARIETTA: Richard A. Shultz, 41, of 364 S. Third St., Columbia, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Aug. 1 in the 400 block of East Front Street. MANHEIM TWP.: Dennis E. Coss, 23, of Fifth Street, Columbia, was charged with taking electronic items valued at $49 Friday at Walmart. (Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era)
• Among the really good things (actually near the top of the list) in California is IN-AND-OUT BURGERS. Just ask anyone who has been here and they’ll shout the praises for this burger chain.

These relationships and the commitment to the company’s philosophies continue to make In-N-Out a very special place to work.” The fries are fresh cut right there; all the burgers are grilled right there. From the moment a genuinely friendly person helps you with your order, until they call your order number, you can watch all the hubbub as orders are readied. Every person working there is immaculately dressed, groomed and personable. And everyone says, “Please” and “Thank you.” (We did not hear even one “have a good’un.”) Then the call comes, “Number 94, please, your order is ready.”  It’s absolutely a great burger-with-fries experience that is worth the visit … astounding service with a genuine smile.
