today’s news and information gleanings from here and there! Today’s Weather!   Today in History!

Quote for today“Stuff happens and it’s untidy, and freedom’s untidy, and free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things.” – Donald Rumsfeld, Rumsfeld on Iraq looting (April 11, 2003) [EDITOR’S NOTE: Why do we allow people like this to be in power and to speak for the ideals of the United States of America?]

    • POLICE LOG: COLUMBIA: Matthew W. Snyder, 31, of Columbia, was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness after an incident Wednesday in the 600 block of Union Street. He was committed to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. (Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era)
    • Supplies running low as York County preps for Irene – (York Daily Record) and “Most central Pennsylvania stores out of generators” – (Harrisburg Patriot News)
    • Noticed an article in yesterday’s York Dispatch that included this sentence, “In January, the chamber will officially merge with the York County Economic Development Corp. Darrell Auterson, director of the county’s economic development group, will become the CEO of the merged agency.” Now there’s an idea that makes sense. That’s what Chambers of Commerce should do; Chambers of Commerce must have economic development and business development at the top of their agenda.
