- At the District Three Track and Field Championships in Shippensburg yesterday, “In Class AA, Columbia’s Mike Burke (187-5) won the javelin … Burke, for his part, put the competition away by nailing his winning throw on his first effort in the trial. His success is impressive considering he’s only thrown the javelin since the end of basketball season. Prior to this year, the Villanova football recruit played baseball in the spring, and he had to overcome a sidearm baseball throw when he threw the javelin. He said he’s ‘still hungry for next week’ at states and that ‘every time I throw, I want to get the school record.’” – Lancaster Sunday News
