On a beautiful fall day, parking is the problem

“If you build it, he will come.” Appears the voice in the movie is right; build something that people want and they will come to it … especially if they can park close.

The 60 space parking lot was full on this the first weekend that the trail was open. All age groups were using the trail from under 10’s to seniors. joggers, cyclists, and walkers were all out enjoying a cloudless day with temp in the 70’s and low humidity. Beautiful views of the SusQ river. I would suggest that since the cliffs shade the trail up until noon, that Summer rides take place in the morning, and Afternoon for cooler weather days.

And this past Sunday, the parking lot was full again. A slew of trail visitors decided to park in the park’s grassy cut-outs.

What’s the answer? Parking enforcement to preserve the grass? Make the entire entrance a parking lot?
