Chamber announces holiday happenings in and around Columbia

Gingerbread Tour & Contest, visit the venues that are participating in this annual contest. Vote on the most creative Gingerbread House and after you have visited each venue, write your name and phone number on the ballot and be entered in a drawing for a $20 Gift Certificate! List of venues will be posted on November 20th on the Gingerbread House Event Page.

Garth Gallery and Framing Shop – (South 2nd Street) will be showcasing their Annual Miniatures Show from November 27th to January 22nd.

Susquehanna Center for the Creative Arts (SCCA) – (200 Block of Locust Street) will be hosting their Annual Holiday Show at the SCCA featuring work by 24 regional artists in a variety of media, including: ceramics, glass, drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, printmaking and sculpture. The show opens Nov. 27 and runs through Jan. 16, 2016. SCCA is also participating in the Gingerbread House Tour, stop by and be witness to the professor’s creativity.

Through the Fire – (400 Block of Locust Street), will be showing Portrait art by Todd Geiger and work from Jaye Crist. New to the gallery is ceramic art by Scott Schmitt. As always, there is a variety of beautiful glass art by a number of artists.

Weavings, Ink – (Wrightsville) is having their Annual Holiday Show featuring the work of local and regional artists. We have affordable gift items including jewelry, weavings, robots, stained and painted glass, pots, prints and many more unique gifts.

Bootleg Antiques is hosting music by Sonny Lee and The Bootleggers, along with moonshine and whiskey samples in the café.

Columbia Historic Preservation Society is continuing their Lloyd Mifflin exhibition, which runs all year long. In addition; CHPS will have their Annual Open House of the Model Railroad Town of Columbia. fabshop will be celebrating their Grand Opening, featuring Vintage & Antique Painted Furniture, Giclee and original Art. Newly situated in Columbia at 26 North Fourth Street; stop by to visit their assortment of collectible items, while looking at their Gingerbread House that is on display at the front of their store.

Half Nuts Popcorn in Wrightsville right along the river, always a snack favorite is participating in our Gingerbread House Tour. Catch their entertaining and imaginative view on Gingerbread House making.

Hinkle’s Pharmacy is displaying their amazing Gingerbread House creation during store hours; stop on by for some hot cocoa or a quick snack at the counter.

Mt. Bethel Cemetery will have their Gingerbread House on display in the Columbia Borough Municipal Building at 308 Locust. Take advantage of this opportunity to see the insides of this building at the same time. A volunteer will be in place Fourth Friday until 8pm, other times stickers will be given out during the day/week.

Mullen Books will be hosting the Susquehanna Waldorf School for their Gingerbread House. Please stop by and visit their exciting creation and peruse a few books while you are there.

St. Paul Episcopal Church is offering a Grab n’ Go Lunch in their courtyard from 11am to 1pm. This month lunch includes pulled pork sandwich, beverage, and bagged chips. Take out is available and orders can be called in at 717-684-8496. Seating will be available in the parish hall. St Paul’s is displaying their Gingerbread House within the church narthex.
