“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times … ” – opening line of Dickens’ “Tale of Two Cities.”

never happens at council meetings

The first line in its entirety:

“It was the best times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way.”

  1. So right!!! I love the cartoon:)
I know at least two of the people applying are never at council meetings. What’s funny also is after people leave council many are never seen at the meetings again! Does their care for the community end when their term ends? This is not a recent development, it goes back years.

  2. You mean “funny: curious?” Not “funny: ha-ha,” right?

    • Yes, “curious” how they are only “seen” while serving on council, not before and not after. How educated on the current issues can these folks be? Are they suddenly interested because of personal agendas? Are they being talked into serving? Are they a soft-serve, in other words led along to vote a certain way.
