Wednesday’s news items [CrimeWatch report; another “same place – same results” meeting; Legal notice] – 5/22/2019

Voting irregularities? | There’ve been reports of “voting irregularities” and flat-out violations of polling place actions at a few of Columbia’s voting sites. Here’s the POLL WORKER’S MANUAL; the Judge of Elections at polling places are supposed to monitor actions and personnel at all times. “CANDIDATE MAY NOT BE A POLL WATCHER (Special Note: Parties are not entitled to Watchers in a Primary)” – see page 63 of the Poll Worker’s Manual

Oh, you just have to read | … the antics of some ne’er-do-well’s ‘s at the Columbia Police Department’s CrimeWatch page. Yesterday was a topsy-turvey day at the polls and around town.

Same place same results | The above notice at the borough Website shows yet another Columbia 2040 Comprehensive Plan Community Meeting at the Library (the third one according to our count). While the Library is a nice facility, we wonder why the Columbia 2040 Comprehensive Plan Community Meeting team doesn’t take the message to other parts of town.

  1. Congratulations to the winners and also to the citizens of Columbia. Also, a big thank you to the candidates who didn’t advance; thanks for your efforts and willingness to serve. This includes the incumbents; I don’t know anyone who has suggested you have acted selfishly or for your own personal gain, so be proud of your service and, please continue show your Columbia pride by working towards an orderly transition.
