does it make a sound? | “If a tree falls in a forest … ” Centuries ago, a philosopher asked, “Since sound does not exist without our hearing of it, sound does not exist if we do not hear it.” Columbia’s citizens tuned into last night’s council meeting were faced with that same debate. The audio on the livestreamed meeting was challenging (garbled, reverberation, muffled) for many who tried to engage in this democratic process .

Read at last night’s meeting | posted at the borough Website, the Columbia Borough EMC Report  04-13-20. In plain-talk, it is the Columbia Borough Emergency Management Coordinator, a position mandated for each local municipality that requires state certification and training. The report is downloadable as a .pdf format here.

  1. We’re with you on that. That stimulus check did hit our account almost two weeks ago:

“STIMULUS PAYMENT | There it is | The CARES Act stimulus payment hit our bank account overnight. Did you get yours?”

But, in this past Saturday’s mail, a letter over the POTUS garish signature is a letter dated April 15 saying Your Stimulus Impact Payment Has Arrived.”

    We didn’t need the letter.

  2. One should only use toilet paper in toilets. Besides, if anything with Trump’s garish signature on it were to be put in a toilet, the toilet would be ruined.

    • But if pooping in the woods is good enough for bears, it should be for humans, too.

Besides, are you one of those pampered ones who never knew the joy of a winter visit to an outhouse? Pre-Charmin days.

  3. No, I am not one of those pampered ones who never knew the joy of a winter visit to an outhouse. In the past I have spent numerous times in the Maine woods using an outhouse.
