  • “POLICE LOG: COLUMBIA: Fire from unattended cooking caused just under $1,000 damage to a home at 154 S. Eighth St. at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Columbia Consolidated Fire Company Chief Charles Snyder said. Residents put the fire out before firefighters arrived. A woman received treatment for mild smoke inhalation. – MANOR TWP.:  A 69-year-old township resident told police Feb. 23 that he lost several thousand dollars after wiring the money to a person who telephoned him pretending to be his grandson. On the same day, an 86-year-old resident reported to police that he received a phone call instructing him to wire money to collect lottery winnings. The man didn’t comply but reported the incident to police because he was concerned about the continuous calls, police said. – Kyrell Wright-Smith, 20, of Poplar Lane, Mountville, was charged after he allegedly caused $300 in damage to an apartment in the 300 block of Pisgah Place during a domestic dispute Feb. 18.
