The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture (PDA) requires the ‘person in charge’ in a food service operation to hold a ‘nationally recognized food protection certificate’ such as ServSafe®. The certified person must be accessible during the facilities hours of operation. Additionally, all individuals seeking food safety certification are required to pass a certification exam every five (5)years.
If you operate or own a restaurant or food-serving establishment in Pennsylvania, you’ll need “person in charge” to be in compliance with the food safety codes in Pennsylvania.
“This course is for individuals seeking initial food safety certification or renewing food safety certification. Participants are required to attend all class sessions prior to taking the exam.
“At the end of the class, participants will take a proctored, multiple choice exam. A score of 75% or higher is required to receive the ServSafe® certificate which meets the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture requirement for certification.
“Course fee covers the cost of the ServSafe® Essentials book, exam answer sheet, exam, and learning materials. Lunch on your own.”
