Hollingsworth of Mountville was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Northwood University, Midland, Mich., where he is a senior. – Frank Dano IV was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Penn State University, where he is a junior majoring in petroleum and natural gas engineering. A 2009 graduate of Penn Manor High School, he is the son of Frank and Rebecca Dano III of Washington Boro. – Diana D.   • POLICE LOG:MANOR TWP.: Anthony Matos Sr., 40, of 2314 Columbia Ave., was charged with theft of service and criminal mischief after he allegedly tampered with an electric meter at his home after a complaint from PPL on Feb. 1. The estimated loss to PPL with regards to billing and damage to the meter is about $1,600. – WEST HEMPFIELD TWP.: Paul Von Snyder, 18, of Columbia, and a 16-year-old Mount Joy boy were charged with criminal mischief on Monday for allegedly using red spray paint to deface 17 to 20 doors and windows at Farmdale Elementary School, a vehicle in the first block of Rockford Road in Mountville and six vehicles at Gingrich Auto Sales in Mount Joy, between Feb. 14 and 17. Von Snyder also was charged with harassment. The amount of the damage is not yet known.” – Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/New Era

The co-inventors are Kenneth G. Caldwell, Mountville, Pa., Gourish Sirdeshpande, Lancaster, Pa., William Barrows, Elizabethtown, Pa., John R. Garrick, Lancaster, Pa., and Michael Cook, Lancaster, Pa. The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “The invention is a surface coating which will reduce the aldehyde concentration in a room via a aldehyde reactive material contained in the coating. Upon reaction, the aldehyde becomes part of the reactive molecule and, thus, is permanently held within the coating.” – Targetednews.com
